OSTEOPATHY
This is a manual therapy that helps to relieve, correct and recover from musculoskeletal injuries and organic pathologies.
Back in the XIX Century, A.T. Still, the forefather of osteopathy proposed that an individual’s health and correct functioning depended on the overall structural integrity of his or her body.
Based then on the anatomy and physiology of the human body, osteopathy treats the individual globally, as a whole, reestablishing a balance that has been disturbed by means of manual techniques: structural techniques (thrust or rhythmic) and functional techniques. In this way, directly or as a reflex, it gets physiological reactions that balance and restore the different muscular, osteoarticular, organic and functional alterations, improving or resolving the medical issue and its painful appearances.
Osteopathy also facilitates inherent mechanisms of auto-regulation, allowing the body to recover and restore functions that have been altered. Osteopathy can help in both musculoskeletal (back pain, pain in the extremities) and visceral dysfunctions (digestive, genitourinary, respiratory), headaches, etc.
A patient’s description of his or her pain during an interview reveals practically all the information about the injury. THE KEY: It is finding out the why of the injury, the cause, what the chain is that has led to the injury.
